** The process of transferring your files from your old computer to your new one is more involved than you might think. If you try to back up your old files to CDs or DVDs, you'll probably be shuffling disks for the next few days. Fortunately, there are better ways to transfer files from one computer to another. The most convenient tool for transferring your files is an external hard drive.
** For the last couple of decades, the rapid advances in computing technology have given rise to a corresponding problem of computers becoming quickly obsolete.

Of the 129 drives that functioned, 69 still had recoverable files on them and 49 contained “significant personal information,” including 5,000 credit card numbers.
